Biwott, who served in retired President Daniel Moi’s government for many years earning him the title total man, says DP’s involvement in local politics could divide Rift Valley residents.

In his speech at the funeral on former nominated MP Mark Too, Biwott said local politicians should be left on their own to face electorates.

“I have been in politics for a while and I want to advise my son Ruto to focus on national politics. He should let the local politicians face the electorates directly instead of lecturing them,” he said.

He added: “What he is doing will affect his credibility as a national leader and that is a fact. Leave alone local politicians to wrestle each other.”

The DP has been accused of endorsing some leaders with only seven months to this year’s elections, leading to heated political campaigns in his Rift Valley backyard.
