Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar has lashed out at Cord principal Raila Odinga, accusing him of meddling in the county's political affairs.
Speaking at Renaissance Centre in Kizingo on Saturday, the senator accused the former prime minister of validating Governor Hassan Joho's administration.
“Mombasa deserves better. We love the prime minister but we also love Mombasa and we will change Mombasa,” said Omar.
He further faulted the governor for inviting Mr Odinga to a bursary allocation ceremony that was held in the county last week, terming the move as a waste of county resources.
“It was shameful for a leader to call people to a stadium just to offer them bursaries. We will raise questions about the cost of the ceremony,” he said.
He added, “I want to tell Governor Joho that my fees was paid for by bursary but there was no single day my mother was called to a stadium to get the money. Nobody is going to vote for you because you gave them public money.”
Omar also accused the governor of undermining devolution by harassing business owners and residents by destroying their premises in the name of developing the county.
Mombasa County Communication Director Richard Chacha however defended Joho's administration adding that next year's polls will be the ultimate deciding factor.
