Baringo senator Gideon Moi has been warned against tarnishing the great legacy of his father - retired President Daniel Arap Moi.

Speaking at Kiptagich Chief’s office on Thursday, area CDF chair Joseph Sang said that the senator should stop mistreating locals through Kiptagich tea factory.

“We are aware that Gideon Moi is now heading the factory and he continues like this, he will mess up with the legacy of Mzee,” said Sang.

Keringet MCA Anthony Rotich criticized the factory owned by the Moi family and being manned by Gideon Moi of 'robbing' locals.

He stated that the firm has failed to initiate even a single CRS project.

“Their failure to initiate even one CRS project is loud enough that the factory is robbing locals,” Rotich said.

However, the current general manager Stanley Kirui said that the existing payment mode has been in place for years even before he started working for Kiptagich tea factory.

He promised to communicate farmers’ grievances to top management.

“Most of our machines are obsolute and we used the profits to order a new boiler so as to minimize the high cost of fuel,” Kirui said.

Others leaders who attended the meeting were Kuresoi South MP Joseph Tonui and MCAs Wesly Martin (Amalo), Caroline Kilisha (Nominated) and Rose Mutai (Kiptagich).
