Governor Jack Ranguma has let his intentions of creating two more streams in two national schools in the county known.
The Kisumu governor stated that the streams will serve to accommodate more students in Maseno School and Kisumu Girls School, adding that counties should invest more on education. Mr Ranguma who was speaking at Jalaram Academy said that the controller of Budget should stop micromanaging the counties.
“I am well aware that education is the sole responsibility of our national government, but besides that is also one my administrative pillars,” he said.
Ranguma also received 300 books on behalf of Kobura Girls’ Secondary School. He added that the books were donated by well-wishers who are also partners of Jalaram Academy. He further added that education should be supported to cement the future of students.
“We allocated some money to build classrooms last year but this has not come to pass as education has not been devolved, bureaucratic procedures are slowing things down for us,” he finally said.
Ranguma said the project will be complete by next year.
