The MP says that Raila’s claims are out of order saying that Uhuru’s government has shown much commitment in taming graft.

Kahangara accused Raila of politicising Uhuru’s statement during the governance and accountability summit at State House in Nairobi last week.

“The Jubilee government has shown commitment to tame graft and it’s unfair and malicious for the opposition to brand it a most corrupt,” he said on Friday when he visited Kimende primary school in Lari.

The Lari constituency lawmaker stated that the war on graft needs concerted efforts.

He asked the Raila led opposition to work with the government to tame graft instead of criticising.

“Most of the current corruption scandals were inherited from previous government to which some Cord leaders served in and therefore they have no moral authority to accuse President Kenyatta of failing to tame the vice,” he said.

A section of opposition leaders have accused the Jubilee government of tolerating corruption.

The opposition claims that the Uhuru Kenyatta government lacks commitment to eliminate the vice that threatens to tear out the country’s economy.

During the governance and accountability summit at State House on Tuesday last week, President Kenyatta hit out at the agencies mandated to fight corruption accusing them of failing him.

The Police, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Judiciary, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) came under pressure for laxity in taming graft despite being given all the resources.

The President asked the agencies to pull up their socks and prosecute corrupt individuals. He even said that he has pardoned petty offenders to create room for graft suspects to be jailed.
