They have challenged the county leaders to put politics aside and foster development as that was their key mandate, adding that locals are angered by increasingly high rate of wrangles among the politicians in Kisumu.

Speaking in his Kisumu office on Monday, Onyonka said that residents needed to be secure and also receive job opportunities a factor which great number of locals lacked due to differences among the county’s house members.

Onyonka emphasised that it was the leaders’ key objective to see devolution work by delivering to the locals and shun politics stating that people needed deliveries and not politics.

“It is high time Kisumu leaders delivered and shunned cheap politics. Kisumu residents are tired of seeing wrangles among their leaders. We are in great need of jobs, proper security among other amenities in Kisumu,” said Onyonka.

The county’s Deputy Governor Ruth Oburu also expressed with deep concern the direction in which the county leaders move, advising them to shun politics and deliver to the locals emphasising that time for politics was still due and people needed development.

Let us instil a sense of belonging and responsibility and up our game to foster development to our people since we need to put politics aside if we really want to make our county to be developed,” said Oburu.

Alive Youth Chairperson Robert Otieno also rebuked reasons for not fostering development as young citizens with bright future lacked employment yet they possessed worthy credentials.

“Stop cheap politics and deliver to the locals, Kisumu County leaders should know that we did not vote them in to show us how best they can fight,” said Otieno.
