Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has called on all the elected leaders in the country to put aside their differences and work with the Government to bring development to grassroots.
Sonko was speaking at Kisii County governor’s office during the unveiling of the Governor’s Christmas tree and a fundraising that would see the less fortunate in the county get something to celebrate this festive season.
He asked leaders to stop ‘conning’ innocent Kenyans and instead work for them since, according to Sonko they are their employees.
“I am asking my fellow leaders that we should work for the people now that we are in leadership. We should not wait until it is time for election to start initiating projects and giving people help,” said Sonko.
He also asked the area leaders to stop indulging in petty politics at the expense of working for the people who elected them for development adding that any leader had started campaigning for 2017 is not any different from a ‘conman’.
“Leaders should put aside petty politics and prioritise development. It is time leaders from this region ensured there were good roads, better health services by ensuring hospitals have enough medicine and personnel among other services. Anyone campaigning for 2017 at this time is a conman,” said Sonko.
