A section of Uasin Gishu Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) officials have challenged embattled KNUT secretary general Wilson Sossion to stop sideshows and leave office.
Led by Eldoret West Branch Secretary General Kipchumba Arusei, the officials said Sossion should accept the fact that he has been suspended by the National Executive Committee (NEC) members.
“The NEC is the supreme organ of KNUT and its decision is final so Sossion should leave office honorably. He should stop sideshows and wait for his fate during National Delegates Conference (NDC),” said Arusei in Eldoret town, Tuesday.
“Sossion is very insincere, power hungry and untruthful, NEC has the power to suspend or sack the secretary general, KNUT constitution should be followed to the latter and Sosion should abide by that,” he added.
Arusei defended the decision of NEC to suspend Sossion and asked him to accept that he is facing disciplinary action and allow Hesbon Otieno to continue serving as the acting Secretary General.
He noted that following the decision to suspend him, Sossion can no longer perform any duties on behalf of KNUT until when he is reinstated by the Annual delegates Conference set for December.
The sentiments came on the day that a section of KNUT officials from Rift Valley met at an Eldoret hotel and declared their support for Sossion.
Led by NEC Rift Valley member Josphat Serem, the over 50 KNUT officials insisted that they still recognize Sossion as their duly elected Secretary general while terming those pushing for his ouster as power hungry.
