Nyaribabri Chache Member of Parliament Richard Tong'i has urged elected leaders to stop wedging politics which is dangerous for the country but instead direct their energies to urgent national issues like unemployment and insecurity.
Tong’i said, currently there is a growing number of unemployed youths in the country and politicians should seek ways in which they can solve it instead of blaming each other and fighting for supremacy.
“It’s shameful to see youths being used by politicians for personal gains instead of ensuring that they help them empower themselves economically and get their daily bread,” he added.
Addressing a group of youths in his constituency this morning the legislator said Kenya being a progressive society which is opening up, anything touching on the lives of the people should not be swept under the carpet.
He said Kenyans should not be misled by some politicians to believe that should the gender requirement not be achieved by the set date, the matter cannot be carried forward.
“We have provisions for constitutional amendment and as such should we be overtaken by events before attaining the gender rule, it can still be done next year through exploiting such a provision,’’ he said.
