Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Chepkoilel Secretary General Sammy Bor has raised concerns over teachers living with disability continuing to pay taxes despite an exemption policy that came in force in 2010.
He said although most teachers have applied for the exemption, they are still being taxed.
"It's sad that after the tax exemption forms are taken to Nairobi they stay for ages before being signed, thus frustrating teachers living with disability," he said.
Speaking in his office on Monday, Bor said since the tax exemption policy for the disabled was implemented only few teachers have benefited.
"It also seems that most teachers living with disability are not aware that they are entitled to tax exemptions therefore need for awareness campaign," he added.
He, however, challenged parents to invest heavily in education for their children.
"Most of parents and had failed to to adequately describe prepare for their children to face emerging challenges in life," he added.
He reiterated that for parents to experience good life, they should ensure that their children get the best foundation for them to take up leadership positions.
