An MP has said ODM party leader Raila Odinga will still be in active politics even after 2017 and might contest for the presidency in 2022.
Nominated MP Dr Oburu Odinga who is brother to the Cord leader said Raila is still young and motivated to contest in subsequent elections after 2017.
Oburu cited world leaders who have contested elections when they are much older than Raila.
“Raila will run in 2022 if he likes. He is popular enough to do so," he said.
“I want to make it clear that the Cord leader is a suitable candidate in the 2017 elections. Others will have to show that they can win elections on their own,” Oburu added.
He said Raila was the undisputed candidate for the coalition in the 2017 elections, saying others are yet to show that they can win elections on their own.
"No one has shown that they can do better than Raila. Until they prove so, Raila will be the main man."
There is contention over who will represent Cord in the 2017 elections, with fellow Cord co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula gunning for the seat.
