Garissa governor Nathif Jama has trashed the recent attacks on his administration by Yusuf Haji as unfortunate and unnecessary.
In a statement issued by the county's head of communication, Yussuf Korow, Jama said the senator should put his superiority contest to an end.
The governor further urged Haji to focus on the numerous problems staring at the county instead of criticising him.
“Frequent name calling and irresponsible utterances meant to discredit the reputable office of the governor create bad impression between the leader and their respective communities,” the statement read.
Korow stated that Haji is an elder who ought to direct his energy on uniting county residents and not creating political division. He added that the senator should never dwell on negativity but to appreciate the progress that has so far been made and assist the Garissa county government in highlighting major areas that require improvement.
Last week, Haji criticised Jama’s administration citing failure to deliver its promises to residents. He said the county administration was nearing total collapse.
In a press statement delivered in Garissa town, Haji criticised Jama saying the governor had mistaken his silence in highlighting his flaws for weakness.
The senator who stated that he rarely criticises fellow elected politicians in public said things were getting worse and that his time had come to break the silence.
