Deputy President William Ruto has called on the opposition to stop undermining the government in its quest to spur development.

While acknowledging the role of the opposition in any democracy, Ruto said that the Kenyan opposition must stop undermining the government.

He indicated that the government has a clear agenda of promoting the living standards of Kenyans.

“The opposition must stop undermining government’s development agenda,” said Ruto.

The DP who was speaking at Kenyatta University during the official opening of the institution’s campanile center  on Monday, said that the government is committed to address challenges facing the people especially insecurity and poverty.

Ruto asserted that various progammes and projects meant to fight poverty and create job opportunities for the youths are ongoing.

The Deputy President said that time has come for Kenyan politicians to exercise responsibility in what they do and say.

He accused a section of politicians of aiming at antagonizing Kenyans based on tribal lines.

Ruto said that the government will not sit and watch as a few selfish individuals plot to cause disunity among Kenyans.

On the same note, Ruto assured Kenyans and the business community that security will be intensified across the country.

He added that the government has taken appropriate measures and sealed all the loopholes used by criminals and terror groups to attack the country.

Speaking at the same function, Kenyatta Vice Chancellor Prof Olive Mugenda called on leaders to work together.

She added that leaders and Kenyans at large must remain united in order to fight insecurity, poverty, diseases and unemployment.
