Ward representatives have told Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura to ‘stop undermining’ them in their own backyards.
Acting county assembly speaker Gabriel Ochieng accused Obura of making frequent visits to various wards in the constituency with the intention of inciting residents against the MCAs.
He said that the MP has been going around the area urging residents to ignore their ward representatives as they were not helping them.
The MCAs warned Obura that his actions were offensive and cautioned him against playing divisive politics and instead unite the constituents.
“MP Obura has also been meeting ward residents through a number of organised meetings aimed at discrediting the ODM party leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga,” said Ochieng.
Kisumu County assembly minority leader Edwin Anayo also called on the MP to concentrate on discharging his duties and allow the MCAs to do their work without interference.
“As our MP, let him provide leadership and give direction where necessary and not incite our residents against us. He is not even performing as expected in the national assembly,” Anayo added.
Kisumu City Residents Voice Association chairman Audi Ogada joined the MCAs in condemning Obura, urging him to stop divisive politics and instead deliver to his constituents.
Obura is among several other MPs, who include Dalmas Otieno, Samuel Arama, Agostino Neto and women representative Zainab Chidzuga, who have been perceived as 'moles´and disloyal to the ODM and its party leader Raila Odinga.
