Youth in Nyamira County have been challenged to stop misusing social media sites such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter.
Nyamira youth leader Elijah Nyamoi and Dennis Marube urged young people to use social media sites to share information wisely and not insulting and abusing leaders.
“Social media is there to help us share information that will boost our lifestyles. Young people misusing social media should stop before the law catches up with them,” said Nyamoi.
Marube urged youths to avoid politicians who are out to use them to spread propaganda on social media.
“In many occasions youths have been arrested for spreading propaganda, insulting and abusing leaders. It is time for the youths to open up their eyes and avoid politicians who are only interested in using them to spread propaganda and hatred on social media because anyone found will face the on his or her own,” Marube stated.
They were speaking in Nyamira town on Friday.
