A storm seems to be brewing at the helm of the Nairobi City County with Governor Mike Sonko said to be in no good terms with his deputy Polycarp Igathe.

With the speculations rife, Sonko has however moved in to assure residents that nothing is wrong between the two and that they are working together to better the lives of Nairobians.

"Contrary to malicious social media reports of frosty working relations between me and my Deputy Polycarp Igathe, today we held a joint meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran who had paid me a courtesy call," Sonko said on his official Facebook page on Thursday.

But supporters were quick  to move in, warning him of what Igathe could do to sabotage his leadership.

"Sonko the greatest mistake you did was to get a CEO worst of it from the private sector to deputise you. Ask those of us who have worked with them. These guys are over ambitious, selfish and egocentric. Soon you'll be the deputy," said PM Singh.

"By now you already know the people who are hungry with power. They can do everything to ascend to where you are and Polycarp isn't an exception. You will soon perish and Polycarp will be Governor," said Isaac Nyaega.

Others thought that there were already mechanisms intigated by people to replace Sonko with Igather.

"Am told within a twinkle of an eye, a deputy governor can be a governor just like that. Now be as that may, I do understand where your worries emanate from and to a fact that you are taking about it now am worried," said one Dan Ondik.

Another user Harun Anunda said the frosty relationship was Sonko's own making after he allegedly embarrassed Igather in public.

"It's too early Governors learn to work with your deputies.Sonko you embarrassed DG when he was giving you a speech to read then you told him "wachana na hii kizungu mingi"you would just have taken and fail to read otherwise it was not good for you to treat DG that way," he said.

"You gave him so much credit on management. It'll be hard working with a self centered deputy like him for the five years. He's working to outsmart you. Better keep an eye on him Mr Governor," Ben Orina, another user, said.

"Yeah it starts by denying before you realise it has upgraded into a bare knuckles war na vile nakujua Sonko ile mangumi utalima Igathe atashangaa, atajua hajui. The blunder you did was to pick a deputy who is overly ambitious and impatient. Keep your cards very close to your chest Bw Governor and remember to thank me later," argued Ben Obura.
