The County Assembly on Tuesday debated the decision by the county government to redeploy City Manager Doris Ombara.
The motion was moved by Kolwa Central MCA Elvis Oraro and seconded by Nyalenda B MCA James Were.
The entire afternoon was dedicated to the debate as MCAs castigated the executive for 'wrongfully' redeploying Ms Ombara to a non-existent office.
Caroline Owen of Kisumu North ward blamed the executive of falling to establish a city board to guide the city manager's operations.
Ms Owen said there were many illegalities happening at the county that if addressed will see a smooth running of the city affairs.
“The office which Ombara has been deployed is not there. The letter deploying her is casual. This matter is weighty and we will not allow Ombara to be tossed around,” she said.
Seme East MCA Aggrey Ogosi wondered why the city board has taken long to be constituted.
Ogosi said the Assembly should direct Ombara to stay put in office until the illegalities are addressed.
He said MCAs will even abandon their duty of legislation to camp at the city hall to ensure Ombara is back in office.
South West Kisumu ward Joseph Abiola said that deployment is not bad but must be done procedurally.
Abiola said he is a staunch supporter of Governor Jack Ranguma but will differ with him on the saga of the City Manager.
“People are surprised that I am not supporting Ranguma on this. I will not support illegalities and I want to make it clear that I support things that are procedurally done,” he said.
