There was a strange crowd at the The National Alliance (TNA) party officials meeting with aspirants contesting for the party's ticket at the Wida Highway Motel on Wednesday.
A group of young men who were shouting slogans in support of one contender, Wanjiku Kinuthia, made noise outside the hall as the meeting went on.
The group had strange glasses and were in dreadlocks.
There were 13 aspirants present during the meeting including Simon Ngugi, Charles Maina, Gibson Mburu, Wanjiku Kinuthia, Kavore Kariuki, Nicolas Muchai, Newton Njenga, James Wanjohi, Lewis Nguyai, Peter Kariuki, Simon Gathu, Charles Chege and Simon Gathu.
The aspirants met with the Kiambu TNA officials chairman Josiah Kuriah, Secretary General Solomon Ndungu and coordinator Gladys Chania.
During the closed door three-hour meeting, the aspirants were told about the requirements for nomination, the code of conduct and informed about the party.
Chania said Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) would field a candidate from TNA which was popular in Kiambu.
She said there would be no candidates under the ticket of JAP since JAP did not have structures on the ground yet.
“We will have JAP in the campaigns and handing of the ticket but in the nominations, TNA will be the party on the ballot,” said Chania.
Kuriah said TNA would win the Kabete parliamentary seat fair and square.
The seat fell vacant after the demise of MP George Muchai in a brutal shooting in the streets of Nairobi together with his driver and two bodyguards.
