Strathmore University will host a networking event at the sidelines of the planned launch of its new degree programmes in bid to boost linkages with media, international organisations and development agencies.

The Dean, Faculty of Humanities Prof Christine Gichure said the university is seeking to deepen relationships with organisations in the sectors to support continuous innovation of curriculum.

Strathmore, which will hold the event on March 23, leverages strong relationships with industry to enhance currency and quality of training.

Strathmore has recently announced plans to launch new Social Science degree programmes including a Bachelors degree in Communication Studies (BCS), International Studies (BIS) and Development Studies (with Philosophy).

The university will be launching Art based degree programmes for the first time on March 23, 2016, a milestone that will be celebrated at the university.

“The learning model for these new programmes has been designed to meet desirable medium term and long term industry training requirements based on current feedback. We plan to continue updating the courses from time to time based on partners feedback,” said Prof Gichure.

Strathmore University whose strict academic policy stresses on technology, character development and ethics training for all programmes, joins University of Nairobi, United States International University (USIU) and Daystar University in training professionals in the media, international relations and development sectors.

In 2015, Strathmore graduates were most sought after in the Kenya job market, alongside those from the University of Nairobi according to a study on employers’ hiring preferences conducted last year.

Recently, the institution was ranked top university in the region by Webometrics in the regional private universities rankings.

It presently offers 14 Undergraduate Programs and 13 Masters Programs.
