Gusii Institute of Technology (GIT) students want the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb) loans to be streamlined to avoid discrimination of some students. Speaking during the launch of Gusii Institute of Technology 2013-2018 Strategic Plan, the Students’ Council chairman Michael Ogola said they are not satisfied with the way the board distributes the loans. “We feel that the dissemination of loans and bursaries should be streamlined to avoid discrimination and hence disenfranchisement of some students,” said Ogola. Ogola however commended the government and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for making the funds available noting the help it has given to students from needy backgrounds. Present during the launch was Prof Collette Suda the Principal Secretary State Department of Science and Technology.
