Two street boys were on Wednesday arraigned in a Nakuru Law Court to face charges of vandalism and trespass.
The two accused, Victor Odour and Caleb Muturi, appeared before Chief Resident Magistrate Samuel Mungai who ordered that they be remanded at the Nakuru Children’s Home Remand until the court makes a ruling in a two weeks period.
The prosecution desk told the Court that the two suspects were arrested by security guards at a residential quarters namely section 58 Estate within Nakuru town on March 9 this year at around 5am while vandalising a community based Organisation Centre belonging to members of the Hindu Religious Group.
The prosecution desk also told the Magistrate that the two boys whose ages could not be established precisely were notorious petty thieves in the area around the lower part of section 58 and Kanyon Estates.
According to the prosecution desk, the suspects were arrested with several metal bars and glass materials they had vandalised from the building before being handed over to Bondeni Police Station.
Meanwhile the same court released a middle aged man on a cash bond of Sh5,000 after he denied charges of illegally gaining entry into a school compound and harvesting water from a reservoir tank.
The Magistrate was also told that the accused Bonny Manoti aged 34, illegally entered into St. Jude Academy School compound on the morning of March 7 and tampered with a water reservoir before harvesting two litres of water.
The court was told that the accused was arrested by the School’s security guard who handed him over to Teachers Police Post who had arrived on day shift duty unexpectedly and nabbed the accused in the illegal act.
