Mr Mainga said plans are ongoing to move the street children from the streets within Kisii town.

"Street children loitering within Kisii town will be moved in the next few days to ensure the streets are clear. Those spreading propaganda that they have been neglected should join hands with the county government to help end the menace," he said.

The minister observed that street children are suffering from a number of diseases and their were plans to treat them free of charge.

"We shall take them for medical checkups so that they get necessary treatment because most of them are suffering from sexually transmitted diseases," he said.

He assured that the county will also engage the street families in sports to nurture various talents.

"We are committed to nurture talents which are being wasted in the streets after the children mostly boys moved from their homes to the streets in Kisii. Am sure if the talents are nurtured we will have several sportsmen and women representing the county in athletics and ball games," he noted.

He was speaking on Sunday at Gusii stadium when he addressed street children.
