The county government of Uasin Gishu is seeking help from the department of immigration to facilitate the deportation of beggars from the neighboring country who are in Eldoret town.

County governor Jackson Mandago claims a majority of the beggars are from Tanzania.

Speaking in Eldoret town during Jamhuri day celebrations, Mandago said, the beggars, most of whom are people living with disabilities were brought in the country by individuals who use them to solicit money from the unsuspecting members of the public.

"We are asking the department of immigration to deport all those beggars because we don't need them in this county. It's unfortunate that some people are taking advantage of them to collect money from the public which is unacceptable even before God," Mandago said.

The governor further said his administration will from this week begin moving all street families from Eldoret town streets to the rescue center where children with parents will be reunited with their families and those without will be taken care of.

"Within the next two months, there will be no street children's in Eldoret town and we want to ask parents to take up their roles to avoid their kids finding their way into the streets," he said.
