Efforts to rid street families from Eldoret town has suffered a major blow after some of the street children moved to the rescue centre escaped.According to Uasin Gishu County Director of Children's Services Julius Yator, about 28 street children that were rescued are back to the streets. The county government of Uasin Gishu in collaboration with the police, Human rights organizations and the children's department had conducted an operation that saw over 100 street children moved to the Eldoret rescue centre."Those kids stayed well at there centre for two days but on the third day, we're told about 28 of them escaped," Yator said in Eldoret on Friday."We suspect they escaped because they are not used to being confined in one place. They are used to begging for some cash and food hence they found it hard to remain at the rescue centre," he added.Yator, however, said they will not relent in their bid to ensure Eldoret town is street children's free."Our operation goes on even those that have escaped if we find them we will take them back to the rescue centre and continue helping them," he noted. It's estimated that Eldoret town has about 2,000 street families. Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Uasin Gishu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
