The Kisii County government through the ministry of Gender and Social Development have managed to move twenty three children from the streets.
In collaboration with the Kisii Central Police, the operation managed to have the children who will are taken to safe places like children’s homes where they are taken care of and fed well.
“After we get them, we transfer them to children’s home like Nyakoe, Mosocho, Harambee and Keumbu which are within our county,” confirmed Lillian Kuria.
Kuria is the street boys and girls chair in the county.
The operation has managed to get sixty children from the streets who are now safe and living comfortable lives.
Kuria adds that on the streets, rape cases are high and girls are lured into cheap prostitution.
“The operation is still on as we want no child on the street in this town,” promised Kisii Central Police station OCS John Wamocho.
