The national government is set to conduct census on street families in bid to obtain their actual population so as to help in making the country free of street families.Through partnership with Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and UNICEF, the government from next year will conduct the nationwide exercise in order to obtain data for conducting rehabilitation of the street families.Speaking during a 10-Kilometer drug abuse awareness walk in Syokimau, Machakos County, the Street Families’ Rehabilitation Trust Fund (SFRTF) Director, Robert Njogu said the government has invested Sh. 6miliion which has helped in rehabilitating 18,000 street children.“We are coming up with a policy to help us attain our vision of having a country free of street families. We intent to roll out Chapters across the country which will take the shape of the former Provinces, which will cascade to Counties to address street families’ issues at that level,” said Njogu according to citizentv.co.keThis follows after the public claimed that the boy child was being neglected due to over concentration on the girl child.
