Anyone found guilty of vandalising street lights in Nakuru will be prosecuted, a Member of County Assembly has said.

Speaking in his Lake View ward on Monday, MCA Simon Wanango regretted the fact that less than two years down the line, the lighting systems have already been destroyed, something he said is killing the moral of those behind it. 

Wanango earmarked Naivasha and Lake View centre as places where vandalism is rife, butmeant to serve the whole community.

"This project was fully funded by the county government from the revenues all of us remit in our daily activities both directly and indirectly," he said. 

"Its our responsibility to safeguard such projects because all of us pay taxes, ignorance will derail us economically," he added. called on residents to help protect public facilities 

The first phase of the street lighting project was fully funded by the county government with the second phase seeing the government partner with the Kenya Power to ensure streets of all major towns, markets and shopping centres are well lit.
