Residents of Kivumbini ward in Nakuru Town East constituency have raised an alarm over street lights vandalism.
Speaking to this writer on Friday during the inspection of the solar street lights ,the residents said it has become a tendency where some individuals vandalize the solar street lights in the area. "We are saddened by this tendency where the vandalism of this street lights has been happening each night leaving us in darkness,"said Grace Njoki, a resident.
Her sentiments were echoed by Sylex Kimani who said the vandalism is becoming a threat to security.
Kimani who operates a hotel in Kivumbini ward called on residents to be a watchdog and ensure that those behind the issue are dealt with in accordance with the law
Neto Sakwa who runs a haircut shop among other businesses narrated that those behind vandalism will always ensure that the solar batteries are not there.
This, he said always makes the whole light not to work leaving residents in total darkness.
Area MCA Vitallis Okello on his part urged the residents to report any vandalism so as to sort out the matter. He appealed to those behind the vandalism to stop terming the act uncultured.
