Street noise and demonstrations will be of little help for CORD. There are constitutional channels available on matters regarding IEBC, Kiambu county women Representative Ann Nyokabi has said.
Speaking on Tuesday during the cash transfer program held in Kiambu where over 8,000 elderly persons from Gatundu benefited, the leader castigated Cord’s IEBC ouster strategies.
She underscored that the constitution had availed legal means of housing out any independent commission adding that Kenyans could not re-visit 2017 crisis over individual’s political interests.
"They cannot see the government developments; someone is trying to peep in the government affairs using the back door, or you can vote in such a rogue person for national governance?" she asked the elders.
She added, "We would love to ask God to defend this government so as enlarge the developments like this initiative that has benefited 8,000 people in Gatundu and is awaiting to help more others in other sub counties," she added.
Gatheca lauded the government for moving a mile head to remember the extremely poor elderly persons in Gatundu. She cited that residents in the area had fallen prey of coffee cartels rendering many of them poor.
"We are all asking the government to engage other agencies to help us extend this initiative to more vulnerable persons," she begged.
Cabinet secretary for labour and East African affairs who steered the funds disbursement exercise pledged to push the government to allocate more funds for the initiative pointing out that the area had more needy persons.
