Strike is looming in six counties of South Rift Region as doctors from the counties threaten to go on strike to protest failure to pay them as per their return to work formula agreed.
According to KMPDU secretary South Rift region Dr.Damji Atellah, doctors are in a pay crisis.
“As per a directive from KMPDU headquarters we have written to the governors of the six counties seeking for consultative meeting with the aim of having the withheld salary paid immediately and should the consultative meetings fail to yield fruits we will boycott operations and demonstrate to the respective county headquarters," he said.
He singled out Bomet County where he said that a serious victimization of doctors who were on strike is live.
The official said that all arrears were supposed to be paid effective January 2017 but the same has not happened.
As for Nakuru County, Dr. Atella said that some doctors were transferred as a way of victimization adding that KMPDU will not tolerate such behavior.
