Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has said the county government will not pay doctors who have been participating in the nationwide strike.
Dr Kidero said only 54 doctors will receive their December pay.
More than 120 others will miss their salaries, if the governor makes real his threat.
“Our doctors had no reason to join the strike as we already signed a return to work formula in October. We will therefore not pay them as they did not work for us and we are their employer,” Dr Robert Ayisi, Nairobi County Secretary, said on Tuesday.
Kidero said patients have been receiving health care services from nurses in county health centres since they resumed duty.
