[Photo: hivisasa.com]Nurses at the Moi Teaching and Referral hospital (MTRH) have accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto for ignoring them despite being on strike for 34 days. According to the Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) MTRH chapter chairman Kennedy Orangi, they two are happy when they see people dying due to the strike. "Why has the government ignored us?Are campaigns more important than the health of Kenyans," he said in Eldoret town, Tuesday."How many people do the government want to see loosing lives before they act. This shows lack of commitment," he added. He however, said the strike would continue until their CBA is registered and implemented. "We are being taken for a ride. Nurses striking for 34 days and no one seems to bother. We will continue paralysing services at MTRH until our CBA is registered in the court of law and implemented," he added. He called on the government to act at speed to stop the strike failure to which they will not vote them in the August 8, elections. The contents of the CBA include, monetary and non monetary terms such as, administration, increment of salaries and pension among others.
