This is after negotiations between the Health ministry and health workers backfired on Monday after the latter's representatives failed to show up for a meeting called by Mailu.

Kenya National Union of Nurses (Knun) secretary general Seth Panyako said they will meet Health CS Cleopa Mailu at Afya House to iron out the issues that led to the industrial action.

Panyako said in Nairobi on Wednesday that they will not call off the strike until the harmonised CBA is signed and a commitment to payments made.

"The strike is 100 per cent successful and we will not back down. Disparities within the public sector must be corrected. We are asking the naysayers to watch us," he said as quoted by the star.

The health workers are demanding a 300 per cent pay rise and a review of working conditions, job structures and promotion criteria.
