The country Public service board has declared the positions vacant.

New applicants have been urged to apply by September 25 to fill the positions.

The Public service board said the new applications should attach entire professional documents and deliver the packages to the Governor Ann Waiguru's office.

Deputy county governor Peter Ndambiri said the county can't allow few individuals to hold locals hostage.

"New people interested in working with the county will be employed and do away with those who don't want to work", Ndambiri said.

Those who will be shortlisted will undergo a thorough interview before they are hired on contractual terms.

Nurses countywide have been on strike since June 5.

They accused the government for failing to sign their Collective Bargaining Agreement for higher pay and improved working conditions.
