A section of residents of Shabab area in Nakuru County now want the government to revoke the Identity cards of all immigrants in the country, to prevent them from coming back once they are deported.
The residents welcomed the directive by the Deputy President William Ruto forcing the United Nations to remove all the immigrants from the country due to the increased attacks by Alshaab
However, the residents stated that it would be easier for them to penetrate back to the country, as some had acquired national documents through illegal means.
“We are appealing to the government to strip them off any documentation to prevent them from coming back. Otherwise they will just cross the boarders and hide inside the counties and the problem will re-occur,” said David Nyasinga.
Joseph Towett noted that some of the immigrants might have already started seeking asylum in other parts of the country.
“They will be conducting business as usual. Some of them even have valid passports and hence will be coming in and out of the country and might pose a security threat to the residents,” he noted.
Marryane Njeri however called on the government to ensure that women and children were not mistreated during the move to rid the country of refugees.
“They are innocent people who got themselves in the middle of this mess,” she said.
