DNA evidence has linked a suspect to the murder of slain lawyer Willie Kimani.
Cigarette butts that were recovered from a crime scene have shown a link to one of those charged with murdering the lawher.
An analyst from the Government Chemist Dr Joseph Kagunda Kimani has said that five cigarette butts recovered from one open field in Mlolongo matched the DNA profiles of alleged police informer Peter Ngugi Kamau.
According to the prosecution, the three slain victims were murdered in the open field the night they went missing.
Four police officers, Fredrick ole Leliman, Stephen Cheburet Morogo, Sylvia Wanjiku Wanjohi and Leonard Maina Mwangi and Kamau have all denied killing the three.
Dr Kimani confirmed to Justice Jessie Lesiit that DNA profiles collected from the butts matched that of Kamau.
He added that the DNA can only be Kamau's “unless he has an identical twin brother”.
