Bad news for Ndalani Primary School after a strong wind carried away roofs of three classrooms on Sunday afternoon.
The school Head-teacher Lazurus Muinde has since appealed for help from well-wishers stating that the School has incurred great losses from the incident that was witnessed in Yatta sub-county.
Speaking to parents and residents at the scene, Muinde urged Machakos County government through the County Development Funds to intervene and help the reconstruct the roof tops.
“This is a natural calamity that is beyond our control. I therefore urge our county government to come in and salvage the situation as soon as possible so that learning could continue normally,” said Muinde.
The unfortunate incident that occurred at around 2pm has left three classes; Standard 3, 4 and 7 without roofs together with the roof foundation and the classroom windows.
Electricity pole within the school was also uprooted by the strong wind causing power shortage in the school.
The school has also urged Non-Governmental institutions and parents to help in a way they can to rebuild the roof tops and other destroyed property.
The affected pupils are most likely to learn under tree shades as the preparations to repair their rooms await commencement.
This is a second incident in Yatta sub-county this year after Kamuthumbi Primary School classrooms’ roof were swept away by strong rains in mid February.
