Francis Mathuva, the schools' headteacher said that at around 7.00 pm, strong winds were experienced in the area which blew away the rooftops.

“I was notified by the school watchman that the roofs of three classrooms have been carried away by wind, the iron sheets had been completely destroyed, nothing could be salvaged," said Mathuva.

The school management and local administrators have called for urgent intervention to repair the roof so that learning at the school can resume.

“The rains are ongoing, I'm wondering how studies will be conducted tomorrow in roofless classes," he said.

The same situation was witnessed in Kituyu village where one family is counting losses after roofs of their three houses were blown off by the wind.

The family appealed to the area MP Vincent Musau and well-wishers to extend a helping hand.
