More cracks have emerged in the National Super Alliance (Nasa) after Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale laughed off an opinion poll that rated ODM leader Raila Odinga the best bet for the coalition's presidential flagbearer.
Khalwale instead said that the Nasa coordinating committee shall not be influenced by study polls in their quest to get a flagbearer.
Speaking on Saturday following the release of Infotrak survey that showed Raila enjoying a 68.3 percent NASA lead, the Ford Kenya deputy leader instead said that the Coordinating Committee was on track to ensure the flagbearer would be the best candidate.
“We are aware that although aspects of the poll results are quite exciting…sometimes they can be used to manipulate the outcomes,” said Khalwale.
Even though Ford Kenya would want to fly the flag, it was Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who came second to Raila with 13,1 percent while Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi came third with 12.3 percent rating that pushed Ford Kenya's Wetangula to fourth.
Wetangula got a 2.2 percent support in the study released on Saturday.
Ford Kenya's Wetangula was also nowhere in the opinion of Jubilee supporters.
27.3 percent of interviewed Jubilee supporters opined that Mudavadi held better chances to defeat President Uhuru Kenyatta whereas 26.5 percent of them said Odinga would clinch the presidency against Uhuru.
Wiper's Kalonzo had a 24.6 percent rating against Kenyatta while Wetangula garnered a paltry 3.9 percent.
Recently, ODM decided to abandon talks of joint NASA nominations and has already scheduled dates for primaries away from other NASA affiliate parties.
