Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Mike Muiruri and his assistant Peter Okidi on Tuesday became the latest victims of a purging spree by Kenya Premier League teams ahead of the second leg after they were sent packing by the club.
Club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula confirmed that the duo alongside technical director Alfred Imonje and the team doctor were relieved of their duties and have since been replaced by former Tusker and Bandari F.C tactician Paul Nkatah and Hamza Kalinza as head coach and assistant head coach respectively.
"We have released the coach, his assistant, the team doctor and the technical director as we look to refresh the team ahead of the second leg. The only member of the bench remaining is the Team Manager," Shimanyula told local sports website Soka,“
The team manager added that the incoming duo were experienced and would steer the unpredictable side to greater heights.
"These are coaches with a proven track of performance and we are hoping they lead the team to greatness. We have spoken to players about this and they know the expectations," he added.
Muiruri who steered Homeboyz to a 2-0 win over Tusker last Saturday, however, had remained non-committal on his future in his post-match interview even as speculations abound that he was heading for the exit door. He is however yet to comment on the new developments.
He becomes the third tactician to be shown the door this season after Tusker's Sam Timbe and AFC Leopard's Robert Matano.
