A comrade is detained at a hospital in Kisumu, due to lack of funds to pay the hospital bill.
Simon Ondeto, a Food Service and Hospitality Management Student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has been detained at the Milimani Maternity Hospital in Kisumu, since September 26, this year.
This is due to inability to pay hospital bill, which has since accumulated to Sh. 650,000.
Aggrey Ondeto who is the students’ father is now appealing to well wishers to intervene, and pay the bill in order for his son to be discharged from hospital.
He says his son was hit by a motorcycle on the 8th of August at Odiado market centre in Funyula Constituency, Busia County as he was going back home after casting his vote. He suffered a broken left leg.
"We rushed him to Milimani Hospital where he was admitted for two weeks before being discharged. He then started complaining of headache forcing us to return him to the same hospital for CT-Scan where it was confirmed that he had haematoma (blood cloat),” said the father.
The in charge at the hospital Dr Joyce Otieno confirmed that Simon Ondeto is still admitted at the hospital after failing to raise the outstanding bill.
