A student from the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) died on Wednesday after she was allegedly pushed out of a moving matatu along the Thika superhighway.

The deceased only identified as Doreen was pushed from Zamzam Sacco bus operating along Githurai 45route.

The incident occured near Safari Park hotel.  

A good Samaritan known as  Peter Pekat posted on social media highlighting the incident. 

"Doreen was pushed from a moving bus at safari park hotel. She died while I was rushing her to Neema hospital If you were a passenger on that bus kindly go to Kasarani police station to record a statement," he requested.

The  National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA)  on Thursday promised that they were working closely with the police in investigating the matter.

"A case where a passenger was pushed from a moving PSV Bus along Thika Road who later succumbed to her injuries has been brought to our attention. We are working closely with the police to ensure the PSV crew are apprehended," NTSA tweeted.

Police have also assured that they are doing their part and action has already been taken on the said matatu. 

"Kindly note that this unfortunate incident is currently being handled by our officers at Kasarani Police station. The matatu is also in Kasarani awaiting Inspection and other procedures as per the law," they stated.
