A student died after a failed abortion. This happened on Thursday at Bogeka area, Kitutu Chache South constituency in Kisii County.
It is alleged that the girl visited a clinic in Nyakoe market where she bought pills to terminate her 2 months of pregnancy.
“My daughter was on midterm holiday. She left home on Thursday morning to Nyakoe where she bought pills and returned home at noon. She went straight to her bedroom and took the pills and after 10 minutes I heard her screaming. I rushed to confirm what was happening I was shocked to see her lying down bleeding from her private parts,” said the girl’s mother only identified as Kemunto.
Kemunto said she saw the pill her daughter had taken besides her.
After rushing her to a nearby Matongo clinic, she was referred to Kisii teaching and referral hospital.
Area assistant chief John Makori confirmed the incident and said the form 3 girl died while she was being rushed to KTRH.
“The girl died while on her way to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital. Her body was taken to Hema hospital mortuary,” said the local administrator.
