An 18-year-old student was on Monday electrocuted to death at Kariokor shopping centre in Kieni East, Nyeri County.

Edith Mukiri died on Monday morning after touching window grills that were illegally connected with electricity.

The deceased had traveled to the area from Meru to celebrate Christmas festivities with her sister who resides in Nyeri.

Area residents called for a speedy investigation into the matter and for the arrest of the suspect of the suspect.

Her body was taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
