An underage girl is fighting for her life in hospital after she conducted an abortion.
This comes at a time when police are looking for a woman who has been procuring abortions at Bogiakumu ward in Bonchari constituency, Kisii County.
Area Chief John Oswago said that the incident happened on Monday afternoon and that the woman behind it went into hiding.
"The girl was left at home by her mother who went to the farm only to come back and find her wailing in pain. That is when she took her and rushed her to the Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital," he said.
Speaking to Hivisasa, the mother of the girl identified as Ziporah Nyarangi said her daughter has been staying at home after she dropped out of school due to the pregnancy.
"She has been threatening to terminate the pregnancy but I warned her am disappointed by the decision and I request the police to take action against the woman behind it," she said.
Ms Nyarangi also asked teachers in the region to enlighten girls and warn them against engaging in premature sex.
According to Ms Nyarangi she had hopes in her daughter and the incident had totally disappointed her.
