George Muragu Mugo, 23, a fourth year tourism student at the University of Nairobi, was found dead in his family room at Kandutura village in Bahati sub-county. He left a note saying his disease was too hard to bear.

According to Bahati police boss Duncun Nguthu, the student locked himself in his single room before taking away his life using a piece of cloth.

“He had been battling with a psychological ailment. Although he had been receiving medical care, he did not accept his condition,” said Nguthu.

The OCPD said the incident was reported by Muragu’s parents. He added that the student failed to turn up for breakfast with his family.

“The parents broke into his room and found him hanging,” Nguthu said.

The police chief said Muragu left a note saying he was not going to continue suffering from the untreatable condition as it had affected both his social and academic life.

He added that he was tired of taking drugs all the time and that  death was the best option to avoid stress and depression.

His body was taken to Nakuru municipal mortuary for postmortem.
