A student in Kisumu who was allegedly shot by police during demonstrations against the October 26 repeat election has a bullet still tacked in the body.Chrispine Ochieng’ on Friday told journalists in Kisumu that doctors had failed to remove the bullet tacked in the born-marrow in his left thigh.He gave an account of how police allegedly invaded their house in Kisumu’s Nyalenda slum during the demonstrations in which over 50 people were killed by police according to Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.“I have been going to hospital to seek help but doctors say I may live with the bullet for the rest of my life,” the Form Two student at Nanga High School said.“The bullet is inside the born-marrow and it is difficult to remove. My leg may be cut,” he added.He said he was in their house in Nyalenda when the police raided the slum during the violent riots.His sister is also reported to have been clobbered during the raid.Ochieng’ said he tried to run after being hit but was unlucky as he was shot in the thigh as he fled away.The student said he fell on the ground and bled profusely until officials from the Kenya Red Cross picked him up and took him to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Kisumu County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
