Mombasa Senior resident magistrate Edigah Kagoni in his ruling ordered Mr Benson Gift Mutua to work at MTTI for two weeks without payment as punishment after the court found him guilty of the charge.

Magistrate Kagoni made the ruling after the accused person pleaded guilty before the court to being in possession of a roll of bhang.

The court heard that the accused person was arrested after he was found in possession of a narcotic drug on February 15 in Mombasa.

In mitigation, Mr Mutua requested the court to forgive him since he was a first offender adding that he was still a student and wanted to continue with his studies.

“Your honour, I am a first year student at MTTI and I would like to continue with my studies, please forgive me I will not repeat again,” said Mr Mutua as quoted by Baraka FM.

Mr Mutua will work at the institution where he studies for 14 days as punishment following the ruling by the court.
