[Photo/Citizen TV]A student accusing a university lecturer of rape has dropped the charges.Before a Nakuru court on Friday, the complainant said she was no longer willing to proceed with the case and had opted for an out of court settlement.The student said she was not coerced to withdraw the charges.The prosecution told the court that the parties through their lawyers wanted to settle the matter out of court.Evans Nge'no, a lecturer at Egerton University, had been accused of raping his 21-year-old student two years ago.He was charged that on September 2, 2016 along Nakuru-Njoro road he unlawfully and intentionally raped the girl near Soilo area.While allowing the application by the student, Nakuru Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo ordered that the lecturer, who has been on suspension, be given back his car log book which had been deposited as surety.
