Students have been advised to engage themselves in meaningful activities which will go a long way in boosting family resources during the holidays.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Kiambu Sub-County education Officer, Harrison Muriuki said it was important for students to engage themselves positively so that they are not misled to join bad company.
Muriuki said students faced the danger of being lured into wrong company and social vices during school holidays and it was upon them to busy themselves so that they avert these challenges.
The education officer said because of their proximity to Nairobi, students in the region were an endangered species who could be lured into bad groupings of people with bad intentions.
He said that those with parents and guardians with businesses could play a part by being engaged so that they could help boost the family incomes.
“Those whose parents were employed could help in house chores and help in the running of the families by taking care of their younger siblings and stop roaming about aimlessly as it would lead to temptations of joining bad company,” said Muriuki.
Muriuki cautioned students against engaging in drinking illicit brews, saying they were all underage, and that the law did not allow them to do so.
He also urged them to engage in extensive reading while at home following the ban on holiday tuition.
